Eight Week Mindfulness Course
Mindfulness Based Living
What is Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a life skill which can deepen our sense of well-being and fulfillment. It is paying attention to what is happening in our moment to moment experience, with a sense of openness and acceptance. When we are mindful we are in touch with ourselves and others around us. It allows us to freshly experience our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and life as we find it.
Being mindful is a natural and an intuitive way of being present, which leads to feeling more connected, real and alive. Mindfulness can
Overview of the course
Mindfulness is a state of being that is accessible to every one of us, and it is also like a muscle that we can develop through training. The aims of the course - as developed by the Mindfulness Association - are to help you to develop an in-depth personal experience of mindfulness and to build the foundations of a sustained personal practice, with a view to applying this in your life and perhaps also in your professional work. The course consists of eight two-hour evening sessions starting in January 2012, and one full day between week 6 and 7.
Trainers
Kristine Janson has been practicing Tibetan Buddhism for over ten years, of which she spent four years in the Buddhist community on Holy Isle. She has trained with Rob Nairn in Samye Ling and has been teaching mindfulness for several years in Holland and Iceland as well as in various places in the UK.
Programme
The course is primarily experiential. Each evening session will include different mindfulness exercises as well as some theory, and a chance to share and reflect on our own experience.
We would like to invite you to immerse yourself as best as you can in this process. This also means that we would like to invite you to commit to around 30 minutes of daily mindfulness practice at home for the duration of this course. To aid this, participants will receive a Mindfulness Manual and a CD containing various guided exercises.
This course is suitable for people who are new to mindfulness and for those who would like to deepen their meditation or mindfulness practice.
