Soup Kitchen

Akong Rinpoche (founder of the Rokpa organisation) suggested that it is very beneficial for anyone who is willing to work for the benefit of others. One of the simplest ways to do this is to provide food for those in need or support this work financially.

When we moved to our present premise in 2000, we were successful in securing a grant from the Community Fund to build a semi-professional kitchen in the basement. This has enabled us to be more efficient in providing for those in need, in a more professional manner.

Our soup kitchen operates on Saturdays from 11am-12.30pm and Sunday evenings from 6pm.

Volunteers are needed to prepare soup, sandwiches and other food, clean and organise the kitchen and stores and distribute food to Cafe Simon on Saturdays and we also have a street team for Sunday evenings from 8.30pm.who take the food out to the people at Cadogan street.

We also have regular fundraising events including collections at Glasgow Central, various ongoing events in the centre and annual events.
